TSMC , the world’s biggest contract chip manufacturer, reported on Thursday that its second-quarter revenue had risen to 933.80 billion New Taiwan dollars, about $31.9 billion, higher than forecasts. The strong results were fueled by climbing demand for the company’s products, as interest in artificial intelligence applications continued to expand.
Second-quarter sales were NT$933.8 billion and NT$673.51 billion in the April to June period a year earlier, according to Reuters’ calculations, which showed a rise of 38.6%.
The most recent outcome also exceeded LSEG SmartEstimate of NT$927.831 billion, based on the estimates of 21 analysts. That was ahead of even TSMC’s own April forecast, which anticipated revenue of $28.4 billion to $29.2 billion.
TSMC is due to announce its full second-quarter earnings on July 17, including guidance for the current quarter and full year.
Clients of the company, whose customers have included Nvidia (NVDA.O), has been one of the primary beneficiaries of the progress and increasing interest in the AI space.
